The Frozen Dress for Little Miss features a high neck, ribbed flared skirt and

long sleeves. It’s an easy-to-wear pull-on with a close-fitting top. The skirt sits a

little below the knees. For this seamless dress, you begin with the neck and

knit top down. As this dress is designed with a turtleneck, it is very easy to

start.

The big advantage of working top down is that you can adjust the length of the

sleeves and dress length to suit your needs.

This sample is knitted using Mondial Ciao Superwash self-striping sock yarn.

Just because something is labelled as “sock yarn”- doesn’t mean you have to

make socks! There is a lot of choice of sock yarn out there however, which you

can substitute e.g. Lana Grossa Meilenweit 100, King Cole Zig Zag, Alize

Superwash and many more.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

 3 x 100g balls (1260m or 1378yds) using Mondial Ciao Superwash 998

colour yarn.

 100g (280m or 306yds) Drops Alpaca Boucle 7402 colour yarn (blue).

 100g (280m or 306yds) Drops Alpaca Boucle 3125 colour yarn (pink).

 1 Circular needle 3.00mm x length 50cm (US 2.5).

 1 Circular needle 3.00mm x length 80 cm (US 2.5).

 1 Tapestry needle.

 8 Stitch Markers.

 2 Stitch holders.

NB. Needle size is only a guide- if you get too many stitches on 10cm, take a

larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10cm, take a smaller needle

size.

ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS:

One size: 6-8y (Rib pattern is stretchy).

Dress length (from top of the shoulders)- 68cm (26¾ ins).

Dress flat width (just below armhole)- 26cm (slightly stretched) (10¼ ins).

Sleeve length (from top of shoulders)- 44cm (17¼ ins).

Sleeve flat width (just below armhole)- 11cm (4¼ ins).

GAUGE (Tension): 26sts and 31row = 10 cm (4ins), using sock yarn and

3.00mm needles (US 2.5), measured over k2p2 rib, slightly stretched (garment

being washed). Adjust needle size to give correct tension. It’s very important to

check your gauge (tension) before starting to obtain the correct size.

ABBREVIATIONS:

St(s) – Stitch, stitches.

CO – Cast on.

BO – Cast off (bind off).

RS – Right side.

Yo – Yarn over. Bring knitting yarn over the needle between two sts. Work as

follows: on a next round K or P Yo as twisted st, preventing not to make the

holes.

K – Knit.

P – Purl.

K2tog – Knit 2 together.

P2tog – Purl 2 tog.

M1k – Make 1 knitwise. Pick up strand running between sts from front to back.

Knit this st twisted, to avoid a hole.

M1p – Make one purlwise. Pick up strand running between sts from back to

front. Purl this st twisted, to avoid a hole.

Inc – Increase.

Dec – Decrease.

MC – Main colour (Mondial Ciao).

Blue colour font use (Drops Alpaca Boucle in Blue).

Pink colour font use (Drops Alpaca Boucle in Pink).

m – Marker/s.

* – * – Repeat from * to *.

EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTTERN:

The dress is worked in the round throughout, from the RS in rib – starting with

K2, p2 every round and increasing, as stated in the pattern instructions

finishing in k6, p6 rib.

SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE DRESS:

The body and sleeves are worked in the round, top down with RS facing

throughout. The dress yoke is worked using circular needle 3.00mm x 50cm

(US 2.50) switching to longer circular 3.00mm x 80cm (US 2.5) when needed.

Sleeves are worked with circular needle 3.00mm x 50 cm (US 2.5). Follow the

written instructions and always check your gauge. When the last row in all

parts is completed BO.

KNITTING INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Using 3.00mm (US 2.5) circular needle (length 50cm) and MC, CO 72 sts.

Join in the round, being careful not to twist. There is no difference between

back and front, and your CO edge will be the uppermost row of the garment.

Work in k2p2 rib for 40 rounds.

Using MC, continue working the yoke part as follows:

2. Marking your raglans.

Place your m as you work last round of your neckline edging. Divide them as

follows: m, starting with k2, rib 10sts, m, p2sts, m, starting with k2, rib 22sts,

m, p2sts, m, starting with k2, rib 10sts, m, p2sts, m, starting with k2, rib 22sts,

m, p2sts: 72sts.

Useful Tip: Use a contrasting m to indicate the beginning of the round.

3. Yoke Raglan increases.

You increase 2 sts at each raglan seam (Yo, p2, yo) every other round. As you

have marked off 2sts for the centre of each raglan, do YO increase on either

side of those. On a next row knit Yo as twisted st, preventing not to make the

holes. Each increase round involves an increase on each side of four seams, for

a total of 8 sts increased.

Transfer these 67sts onto a holder for First Sleeve. Now work across sts for

Front: P1, rib78, p1 (80sts). Continue working for Second Sleeve: P1, rib 66, p1

(68sts). Transfer these 68sts onto another holder. Now work across sts for

Back: P1, rib78, p2, transfer last p1 to holder for first sleeve: You now have 2

Sleeves (68sts each on holders) and 80sts for Back and 80sts for Front on a

circular needle for Body. Join in the round and place a m.

5. Work the body in the round as follows:

6. Work sleeves in the round as follows:

If you kept live sleeve stitches on the stitch holders, put them on to circular

needle 3.00mm x length 50cm (US 2.5). Reattach your MC yarn. Mark the

centre point of the underarm with a Marker.

If you kept live sleeve st on to circular needles, using MC, simply continue

knitting as follows:

Rounds 1 – 9: MC *K2, p2*: 68sts.

Round 10(dec): MC K2tog, *p2, k2 *, p2tog: 66sts.

Rounds 11 – 19: MC K1, * p2, k2*, p1: 66sts.
